The play is based on Henrik Ibsen’s 1879 play A Doll’s house.

Nora (Laurie Metcalf) has been gone for fifteen years. Everyone thinks she is dead. She left her husband Torvald (Chris Cooper) and her three children.

Anne Marie is the housekeeper. When Nora left she raised her children. She is the only one Nora trusts.

Looking at Nora and the way she is dressed you can see she is wealthy. She has made her money writing books under another name. She goes into what has happened to her since she left. A woman who read her book left her husband because of it. He is a Judge and is from the town she was from. To make things worst he was able to track her down and threated to expose her. It seems she thought she was divorced and she is not. All the things she has done in the past fifteen years can get her arrest if she was married. She would lose everything she has accomplished in those years. Anne Marie has no solutions.

Torvald comes home in the middle of the day. She confronts him on why he didn’t divorce her. When he leaves her daughter Emmy (Condola Rashad) comes in to the room. Emmy afraid if there is a scandal she will lose her fiancé

The last scene I’m not telling you anything about it. I don’t want to spoil it for you.

This is one of the best plays I have seen in a while. The cast is stellar and work well together. Laura Metcalf is remarkable in her role. Jayne Houdyshell does a banner job.

A Doll’s House Part Two is a must see play. You don’t need to know anything about The Doll’s House to enjoy this play.
