Spamilton

Spamilton is playing at 47th St. Theatre located at 304 West 47th Street. It runs one hour thirty five minutes with one intermission. It is an open ended run.

Spamilton is a spoof of the show Hamilton.

It originally played at an upper West End Theatre. It moved to its present location in June 2017. The musical is located a block away from the Richard Rogers Theatre on 46th Street where Hamilton is playing.

The musical pokes fun at Lin-Minuel Miranda the creator of Hamilton. The musical covers his life before, during and after the show. The music is from the show but the words are different. Other songs are from other Broadway show like Cats, Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, Chicago etc.

The Guest Diva (Christine Pedi) comes on from time to time. She may be Glenn Close, Liza Minelli and Barbara Streisand.

King George (Glenn Bassett) sings one song in each act. Act one he sings gays are not allowed on Broadway (Falsettos etc.) any more. The second song was Trump wasn’t hack by Russia Broadway was (Anastasia etc.).

Jay Lo, Beyoncé and Gloria Estefan want to work with Lin.

This is a funny musical. It keeps you on your toes guessing what show they are poking fun at when first come on stage. The humor is done in good taste.

You don’t have to have seen Hamilton to enjoy it. It makes it funnier if you have. Well if you can’t get to see Hamilton you can see Spamilton instead. Who knows you might have a better time.

The cast is outstanding. Dan Rosales play Lin-Manuel Miranda. The other cast members are Chris Anthony Giles, Aaron Michael Ray, Tristan J. Shuler and Nicole Vanessa Ortiz. They all shine. Their moves, expressions and singing will blow you away. Nicole has a powerful voice. She reaches depths that I never thought could be reach. She is brilliant. Glenn Bassett does a hilarious job as King George.
