What I Did Last Summer is playing at the Signature Theatre located 480 West 42nd street.  It runs two hours one intermission.

The play closes on June 9, 2015.

Kristine Nielsen was nominated for a Tony Award in 2013 for “Vanya and Sonia and Marsha and Spike”.

Carolyn McCormick is known for her role as Dr. Elizabeth Olivet in the Law and Order franchise.

Michael Yeargan is the scenic designer.  He has been nominated for five Tony Awards for Golden Boy (2012), Joe Turner Come and Gone (2009), South Pacific (2008), Awake and Sing! (2006) and The Light in the Piazza (2005)..

Grace (Carolyn McCormick) takes her son Charlie (Noah Galvin) and daughter Elise (Kate McGonigle) to a vacation colony on the shores of Lake Erie for the summer.  It is 1945.

Charlie is 14 and rambunctious.  He failed Latin and needs to study but he won’t. Charlie won’t listen to what his mother tells him to do. Elise is mad because he won’t do his share of chores.

Ted (Dico Alexander) is his friend.  But he is sixteen now and would rather be with girls.

They have a mutual friend Bonny (Juliet Brett). Her parents are now setting rule with her concerning boys.

To spite every one Charlie gets a job with the town outcast Anna Turnwell (Kristine Nielson). She was an art teacher.

The story revolves around Charlie and the people in his life.

Each thinks the story is about them.

I’m not going to tell you what happened or how it ends otherwise it will spoil it for you.  This is a delightful show.  The stage is white with a bench and two stools.  A steering wheel is brought out to represent a car.  Sometimes on the back wall sentences are typed out.  For example the name the Bing Crosby song playing or cell phones did not exist during this time period.    The actors mimed sounds like opening and closing of the car door. There was a drummer on the left side of the stage.  He did the sound effects

The cast did an outstanding job.

This is a great show.  The price is right ($25). It’s well worth it and then some.
